“ስለ ….. ሲባል ምርጫ ይቅር” …. ትግሉም ይቁም ወይ?

“ስለ …. ሲባል ምርጫ ይቅር” በሚል እንድ ፅሁፍ ፋክት ላይ ወጥቶ አንብቤ ለምን? ብዬ ልፅፍ አስቤ ተውኩት፡
፡ ምክንያቱም በፋክት መፅሔት ላይ አምደኞች የሃሣብ ፍጭት ማድረግ የተለመደ ቢሆንም ሰሞኑን ግን የበዛ
ይመስላል ከሚል ነበር፡፡ ይህ አንድ ዘርፈ ብሉ ጥሩ ጎን አለው፡፡ አንዱ አምደኞቹ ከአንድ ፋብሪካ የወጡ ሳሙና
ዓይነት ያለመሆናቸውን ያሳያል፡፡ሌላው የፋክት መንፈስ ብለው ለሚቃዡትም ሆነ፤ ከመሬት ተነስተው
ለሚፈርጁት የሚያስተላልፈው መልዕክት አለው፡፡ ጉዳቱ ደግሞ በሳምንት አንዴ ብቅ ለምትል መፅሄት የተወሰነ
ሃሳብ በተወሰኑ ሰዎች የሚቧቀሱባት ከሆነች ደግሞ አንባቢን አማራጭ እንዳያሳጣ የሚል ፍርሃት ስለአለኝ፡፡ ይህ
ሁሉ ዳር ዳርታ እኔም ተውኩት ወዳልኩት የሃሣብ ፍጭት ለመቀላቀል ሰበብ ፈልጌ ብቻ አይደለም፡፡ በቅርቡ
“ሰለ … ሲባል ምርጫ ይቅርብን” በሚል በወዳጄ ዶክተር በድሉ ዋቅጅራ ያቀረበውን ሃሳብ ባልቀበለውም
በፋክት ላይ ሳይሆን በጠረጴዛ ዙሪያ ውይይት እናደርጋለን ብዬ እያሰብኩ ሳለ በፌስ ቡክ የውስጥ መዘገቢያ
እንዲሁም በግል የሚያገኙን ሰዎች ምርጫ እንዳትወዳደሩ የሚል አንዳንዱ ምክር አንድ አንዱ ደግሞ ትዕዛዝ
መሰል መልዕክቶች በብዛት ይደርሱኝ ጀምረዋል፡፡ ውሳኔው ልከም ይሁን አይሁን የምርጫ ጉዳይ የሚወሰነው
በፓርቲ መሆኑን ከግንዛቤ በማስገባት የግል አስተያየቴን መስጠት እፈልጋለሁ፡፡ ለዚህም ነው “ሰለ … ሲባል ምርጫ ይቅር” ከተባለ እኔም እንደቅድመ ሁኔታ ትግሉም ይቁም ወይ? በሚል ጥያቄ የጀመርኩት፡፡

በእኔ እምነት ምርጫ መወዳድር ያለመወዳደር የሚባል አማራጭ የለም፡፡ የአንድ ፓርቲ ስራ ምርጫ መወዳድር ነው፡፡ የሰው ልጅ ሞት እንዳለ እያወቀ ሞትን ረስቶ በህይወት እንደሚኖረው ማለት ነው፡፡ ለፓርቲዎች ያለመወዳደር የሚባል ነገር እንዳለ ረስተው ለምርጫ ውድድር መዘጋጀት ዋናው ስራቸው መሆን አለበት፡፡ ፓርቲዎች ምርጫ ላለመወዳደር የሚያበቃ ነገር እንዳይኖር ተግተው መስራትን ትተው፤ ላለመወዳድር ሰበብ የሚፈልጉ ከሆነ እንደ አሸዋ የበዛ ሰበብ ማቅረብ አይገድም፡፡ ከዚህ ሰበብ ውስጥ ግን አንድም ተሰፋ አይገኝም፡፡ ምርጫውም የሰነፍ ነው የሚሆነው እንጂ ባስቸገሪ ሁኔታ ጀግና ለመሆን ለሚታትር ታጋይ የሚመጥን አይደለም፡፡ በሀገራቸን ኢትዮጵያ ለምርጫ የእኩል መወዳደሪያ ሰፍራ ሳይኖር ምርጫ መወደዳር አስቸጋሪ እንደሆነ መረዳት ለማንም የሚገድ አይደለም፡፡ ትግል የሚባለው ነገርም የመጣው ይህ አስቸጋሪ ሁኔታ በመኖሩ ነው፡፡ በአሜሪካን ወይም በሌሎች በዲሞክራሲ በዳበሩ አገሮች የሚደረግ የፖለቲካ ተሳትፎ ትግል አይባልም፡፡ ታጋዮች ማድረግ ያለባቸው ታዲያ ይህን አስቸጋሪ ሁኔታ ለማስወገድ የሚከፈለውን መስዋዕትነት ለመክፈል የሚያስፈልገውን ማድረግ ነው፡፡ ክቡር የሆነውን የስው ልጅ ህይወት ከማጥፋትና ንብረት ከማውደም በመለስ ማለቴ ነው፡፡ እነዚህ ነገሮች ምን ምን ሊሆኑ ይችላሉ ቢባል በምርጫ ሂደት ውስጥ ወሳኝ ናቸው ብዬ የማምናቸውን ዋና ዋና ጉዳዮች በማንሳት ለማብራራት እሞክራለሁ፡፡


የዕጩ ተወዳዳሪ ዝግጅት አንዱ መስረታዊ ጉዳይ ነው፡፡ በምርጫ ለመወዳድር የወሰነ አንድ ፓርቲ በምንም ዓይነት መልኩ ርጫው
ሲደርስ ዕጩ ለማዘጋጀት ደፋ ቀና የሚል ከሆነ ለመሸነፍ መዋጮ ማድረጉን ማመን አለበት፡፡ ለምርጫ ውድድር የሚመለመሉ ጩዎች በሁሉም መልክ በተለይ ከገዢው ፓርቲና መንግሰት ሊደርስባቸው የሚችለውን ጫና ለመቋቋም ዝግጁ የሆኑ መሆን አለባቸው፡፡ በዋነኝነት እነዚህ ዕጩዎች እንደ ገዢው ፓርቲ ወጪያቸው በፓርቲ የሚሸፈን ባለመሆኑ ተገቢውን ፋይናንስ ከደጋፊዎቻቸው ለማግኘት የሚያስችል ስልት መቀየስ የግድ ይላቸዋል፡፡ ውድድሩ በእኩል ሁኔታ ላይ እንዳልሆነ ከሚያስረዱት ሁኔታዎች አንዱ ይህ ነው፡፡ የገዢው ፓርቲ ዕጩዎች በዚህ ጉዳይ ቅንጣት ሃሣብ የለባቸውም፡፡ ይህ ጉዳይ የምርጫ ትግል ከሚደረግባቸው አንዱ መሆኑን ተረድተን መፍትሔ መሻት የእኛ እንጂ አንድ አንድ ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲ ነን የሚሉ ፓርቲዎች እንደሚሉት ለዚህ መፍትሔ ኢህአዴግ/መንግሰት የገንዘብ ድጋፍ ያድርግልን የሚለው አይደለም፡፡ በሀገራችን ገዢው ፓርቲ ኢህአዴግና መንግሰት የማይለያዩ የአንድ ሳንቲም ሁለት ገፅታ ከሚባለው በላይ መሆናቸው ይታወቃል፡፡ ስለዚህ መንግሰት ድጋፍ ያድርግልን ሲባል ኢህአዴግ ያድርግ እንደማለት እየሆነ ነው፡፡ ኢህአዴግ ደግሞ ይህን አድርጎ ለመሸነፍ ዝግጁ አይደለም ሰለዚህ ታግለን ተወዳዳሪ ፓርቲዎች በፍትሃዊነት የሚታዩበት ስርዓት እንዲመጣ በትግል ውስጥ ያለን መሆኑን መረዳት የግድ ይለናል፡፡ ይህ ከባድ ከሆነ አማራጩ ትግሉ ይቅር ወይ? የሚለው ነው፡፡

ከዕጩ ዝግጅት በኋላ በዋነኝነት የሚያስፈልገው በየደረጃው ያሉ ታዛቢዎችን ማዘጋጀት ነው፡፡ የታዛቢዎች ዝግጅት በሁለት ይከፈላል፡፡ የመጀመሪያው በምርጫ ቦርድ አስተባባሪነት የሚዘጋጁት ታዛቢዎች ማለትም “የህዝብ ታዛቢ” የሚባሉት ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህ ታዛቢዎች በሚመረጡበት ጊዜ ኢህአዴግ ቀደም ብሎ በአንደ-ለአምስት፣ በጥቃቅንና አነስተኛ፣ በወጣትና ሴቶች ፎረም ያደራጃቸውን በተለይም የፋይናንስ አቅማቸው ደከም ያሉ የአካባቢ ነዋሪዎችን በማዘጋጀት በህዝብ እንደተመረጡ በማስመሰል ይመድባቸዋል፡፡ ይህ ሲፈፀም ተወዳዳሪ ፓርቲዎች በዝምታ በማለፍ አንድ ደጋፊያቸው እንኳን እንዲገባ ሳያደርጉ ያልፋሉ፡፡ ትግሉን በትክክል ተረድተን ከሆነ በየምርጫ ጣቢያዎች እነዚህ ታዛቢዎች ሲመደቡ እኛም ደጋፊዎቻችን እንዲኖሩ ለማድረግ መስራት ይኖርብናል፡፡ ልክ ነው ይህን ለማድረግ ኢህአዴግ የዘረጋው ዓይነት የመንግሰት መረብና ድጋፍ አናገኝም፡፡ ይህ ነው የውድድር ሜዳው ልክ አይደለም የሚያስብለው እና ትግል የሚያስፈለገው፡፡ ይህን ለመለወጥ ትግል ማድረግ ካለብን የማይቻል አይደለም፡፡ ሁሉተኛው በዕጩ ተወዳዳሪዎች በራሳቸው የሚመደቡ ታዛቢዎች ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህን ታዛቢዎች የመምረጥ መብት የዕጩ ተወዳዳሪው ነው፡፡ ከዚህ አንፃር ያለው ፈታኝ ነገር ታዛቢዎችን ማስፈራራት፣ በገንዘብ መደለል ሲበዛም አፍኖ መውሰድ የመሳሰሉት ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህ በሙሉ የትግሉን አስፈላጊነት የሚያሳዩ እንጂ እንዲህ  ግርማ ሠይፉ ማሩ ከሆነማ ምርጫ ይቅር የሚያስብሉ አይመስለኝም፡፡ የማይፈራ፣ በገንዘብ የማይደለል ታፍኖ ለሚደርስበት ፈተና የተዘጋጀ ታዛቢ ማዘጋጅት
ትግሉ የሚጠይቀው መሰዋዕትነት ነው፡፡ ለዚህ የሚመጥን ታዛቢ ማዘጋጀት የዕጩ ተወዳዳሪዎችና የፓርቲዎች ሲሆን ይህን በታዛቢዎች ላይ የሚፈፀም ህገወጥ ድርጊት ማሰቀየር ነው በሀገራችን ፖለቲካ ከሌሎች ዲሞክራሲ ከሰፈነባቸው ሀገሮች ለየት የሚያደርገው እና ትግል ያሰፈለገው፡፡ ምርጫቻን የቱ ነው? ታግለን እንቀይር ወይስ ኢህአዴግ በቃኝ እስኪል እንጠብቅ ነው፡፡

"የለዘብተኞችና የእስስት” ፖለቲካ ልዩነት እየፈጠረ ነው

መለስ በሁለቱ አገሮች ድንበር ላይ “የጅራፍ ድምጽ እንኳን አይሰማም” በማለት ሲመጻደቁበት የነበረው የኢትዮ-ኤርትራ ጦርነት በ”ወረራ” እና “ወረራን መቀልበስ” በሚል ድራማ ተጀምሮ ከተቋጨ አስራ አምስት ዓመት አልፎታል። ኢህአዴግና ሻዕቢያ ጉዳያቸውን በጠረጴዛ ዙሪያ ወይም በጡንቻ መቋጨት ያልቻሉበት ምክንያት ለብዙዎች እንቆቅልሽ ሆኖ እስካሁን አለ። ሁለቱም ወገኖች ድንበር ላይ ወታደር አፍስሰው መቀመጣቸውን አስመልከቶ “አውቀው ነው” ከሚለው ውሃ የማይቋጥር አስተያየት ጀምሮ በርካታ ጉዳዮች በገሃድና በሹክሹክታ ሲሰማ ቆይቷል።

የጎልጉል የዜና ምንጮች ሰሞኑን ከአዲስ አበባ የላኩት መረጃ ግን በይዘቱ የተለየ ነው። ይህንኑ አዲስ ጉዳይ የሚመለከታቸው ክፍሎች አስተያት እንዲሰጡበት ያደረግነው ሙከራ ባይሳካም ዜናው ለውይይት የሚጋብዝ በመሆኑ አትመነዋል።

የድንበር ውዝግቡ አንዲቋጭ ይፈለጋል?

የኢትዮ-ኤርትራ የድንበር ውዝግብ ጦርነት ከኢትዮጵያ ወገን ብቻ ከ100 ሺህ በላይ ጉዳዩ በውል ያልገባቸው ወገኖች ህይወት የተገበረበት ነው። የአይደር ትምህርት ቤት ህጻናትን ጨምሮ የበርካታ ሰላማዊ ዜጎችንና ህጻናትን ህይወትም ቀጥፎ አልፏል። አቶ መለስ ለዚህ ሁሉ ቀውስ ተጠያቂ ቢሆኑም በድንገት ተስፈንጥረው ፍርድ ቤት ህግ ሳይጠቀስባቸው አልፈዋል። “ታላቁ መሪ” በህይወት እያሉ በኤርትራ ጉዳይ በተፈጠረ አለመግባባት ትግራይ ውስጥ እስከመታገት ቢደርሱም ከጥንቃቄ ጉድለት በአንጋቾቻቸው ፈጥኖ ደራሽነት ተርፈው ተቃዋሚዎቻቸውን “ውህዳን” በማለት በየተራ አራግፈው ብቻቸውን “ውርስና ቅርስ” ለመሆን በቅተዋል።

አይደር

ከህንፍሽፍሽ፣ የልዩነት ጊዜ ጀምሮ አደባባይ የወጣው የልዩነት መሰረት በወቅቱ ይፋ ሲደርግ ኢትዮጵያውያንን አሳዝኖና አስቆጥቶ እንደነበር በወቅቱ በስፋት የተዘገበበት ጉዳይ ነው። ዛሬም ይህ ወቅት ዳግም እየተመለሰ እንደሆነ እየተሰማ ነው። “የኤርትራን ጉዳይ እንቋጭ” የሚሉ የከረረ አቋም ያላቸው ተነስተዋል። እነዚህ ወገኖች ሁለት አማራጭ በማቅረብ ሃሳባቸው ተግባራዊ ሊሆን እንደሚችል እየወተወቱ ነው።

የመጀመሪያው አሁን ያለው የመከላከያ አቅም የድንበሩን ውዝግብ በሃይል ለመቋጨት አቅም እንዳለው እየታመነ ለምን “ቸልተኛነት ተመረጠ” በሚል በቂ ጡንቻ ስለመገንባቱ አበክረው የሚከራከሩበት አግባብ ነው። ሁለተኛው ደግሞ “የኤርትራን ተቃዋሚዎች አደራጅተናል፤ ለምን እነሱ ወደ ኦፕሬሽን አይገቡም” የሚል እንደሆነ መረጃዎቻችን ያስረዳሉ።

ቸልተኞቹ ምን ይላሉ?

በዚህ ጉዳይ ቸልተኛ የሚባሉት የተለየ ምክንያት ያላቸው፣ ነገር ግን “ጦርነት አያዋጣም” በሚል በገሃድ የሚከራከሩ ወገኖች ናቸው። እነዚህ ውስን የብአዴንና የህወሃት ቁልፍ ሰዎች በትግራይ ድንበር አካባቢ አስተዳደር የሚሰሩትን ጨምሮ የኤርትራ ደም አላቸው። በደህንነትና በጸጥታ ክፍሉ አጠቃላይ መዋቀር ላይ ቁልፍ ቦታ ተጎናጽፈዋል። የመረጃ ምንጮቹ ማብራሪያ እንደሚያመለክተው እነዚህ ወገኖች “ኢሳያስን የክፉ ቀን መጠባበቂያ” ነው የሚሏቸው። ሰዎቹ ኢህአዴግ ላይ አንዳችም አይነት ስጋት እንደማይሆኑ የሚታወቅ ሲሆን ዋና ዓላማቸው “ከመሃል አገር ወይም ከመካከል ለውጥ ካልተነሳ አርፈህ ተቀመጥ” የሚል ዓይነት መንገድ የሚከተሉ ናቸው።

ሃሳቡን ሲያብራሩ “ጉዳዩ ስትራቴጂክ ነው” በሚል ነው የሚጀምሩት። ኢትዮጵያዊነት ለሚያንገበግባቸው ህወሃቶች የማይገባቸው ይህ “ቁልፍ ስትራቴጂ” ለማመን የሚከብድ መረጃ ነው። እንደ መረጃው ምንጮች ከሆነ “የመሀሉ አገር ለለውጥ ከተነሳ የመጨረሻ መመሸጊያችን ኤርትራ ናት” የሚል ነው፡፡ እነዚህ የተቀላቀለ ደም ያላቸው ክፍሎች የሚያራምዱት “ቁልፍ” የተባለው ስትራቴጂ “የከፋ ቀን ከመጣ ወንድሞቻችን አይጥሉንም” የሚል ነው። ይህም ተግባራዊ የሚሆነው የቁርጥ ቀን ሲመጣ ለኢሳያስ የሚፈልጉትን በማድረግና በመስጠት ሰላም አውርዶ ህወሃት በገነባው ኢኮኖሚ አማካይነት የንግድ ትስስር መፍጠርና መኖር ነው። በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ “በማንምና በምንም የማይገሰስ” የንግድ ኤምፓየር በመገንባት ኤርትራን በኢኮኖሚ ድቀት እንድትቀጥል የማድረጉ አካሄድ የ“ቁልፉ” ስትራቴጂ አንደኛው ግብዓት እንደሆነም ይነገራል፡፡

ኢሳያስን “አስልሎ መጣል” በሚለው መርህ ሻዕቢያን መጣል ከተቻለ ኢህአዴግ ያደራጃቸውን ተቃዋሚዎች በመያዝ የሚፈልገውን መንግስት ኤርትራ ላይ የመትከልና ከህወሃት ጋር ተዳቅለው የኖሩት የኤርትራ ደም ያላቸው የኤርትራ ተወላጆችን ወደ ግንባር ማምጣት ነው። በነዚህ ሁለት አማራጭ ሃሳቦች የተተከሉት ከላይ የተጠቀሱት ዓይነት “ለዘብተኞች” ይህንን ሃሳብ ይፋ አውጥተው መከራከርና ማሳመን ስለማይችሉ ጉዳዩ ውስጥ ውስጡን እየተብላላ ወደ ልዩነት እንዳያመራ ስጋት አለ። እነዚህ ስጋት የገባቸው ክፍሎች “ቁልፍ” የሚባለውን ስትራቴጂ “የህወሃት የለዘብተኞችና የእስስት ፖለቲካ” ሲሉ ይጠሩታል።

ከኤርትራና ከኢትዮጵያ የሚንደረደሩ ኃይሎች

ህወሃት/ኢህአዴግና ሻዕቢያ/ኤርትራ አንዱ የሌላውን ተቃዋሚ በይፋ በመደገፍ ሃይል ማደራጀት ከጀመሩ ቆይተዋል። ከሁለቱም ወገን ከፍተኛ የሚባል ሃይል ያላቸው የተቃዋሚ ክፍሎች፣ ድርጅቶች፣ ፓርቲዎች አሏቸው በሚባለው ሃይል ተጠቅመው አንዱ ሌላውን በማጥቃት ነጻ መሬት እስካሁን መያዝ አልቻሉም። ከዚህም ከዚያም ከሚሰሙት መጠነኛ የጦርነት ሪፖርቶች ውጪ ተለቅ ያለ ድል ስለመገኘቱ ከሁሉም ወገን አልተሰማም። ሰፊ ሃይል አለው የሚባለው ደሚትም ሆነ ኤርትራ ላይ መሳሪያ አነሳ የሚባለው የአፋር ቀይ ባህርና ኩናማ ንቅናቄ ስለ ሃይል ግንባታ ከመናገር ውጪ ይህ ነው የሚባል ድል እስካሁን አልጨበጡም።

ምንም እንኳን ጥንቃቄና ማስተዋል የሚጠይቅ ቢሆንም ከኤርትራ የሚንደረደሩት የኢትዮጵያ ተቃዋሚ ሃይሎች፣ ከኢትዮጵያ ይወናጨፋሉ የተባሉት የኤርትራ ተቃዋሚዎች ወደ ተግባር ሳይገቡ ጊዜ መፍጀታቸው “ቁልፍ” የተባለው ስትራቴጂ ሊመረመር የሚገባው እንደሆነ አመላካች እንደሆነ የመረጃው ምንጮች ይጠቁማሉ። የኤርትራ ተቃዋሚዎች አዲስ አበባ ላይ የሽግግር መንግስት አቋቁመው፣ መሪያቸውን ሰይመው፣ ህገ መንግሰት አዘጋጅተው፣ ሽግግር ወቅት መተዳደሪያ አርቅቀው፣ የሃይማኖትና የሲቪክ ተቋማትን አካትተው በዝግጅት ላይ እንዲቀመጡ መደረጉ፣ ምናልባትም በኢህአዴግ በኩል ያለው ዝግጅት “ቸልተኛ” በሚባሉት “እስስት ፖለቲከኞች” ታልሞና ታቅዶ የሚከናወን ስለመሆኑ አመላካች አይመስልም? በኢትዮጵያ ወገን ግን ተቃዋሚዎች “እኔ በጠራሁት ሰልፍ ላይ አትገኝም” እየተባባሉ እርስበርስ እየተቆራቆሱ፣ በገጽ ብዛት ብቻ የሚለያይ ተመሳሳይ ማኒፌስቶና ፕሮግራም ይዘው ትግሉን የርስ በርስ አድርገውታል። ከኢትዮጵያ ውጪ ያሉትም በመቀዳደምና በመጠላለፍ ፖለቲካው ተክነውበት የኢትዮጵያ ነጻነት ያደላደሉትን መደብ የሚያፈርስባቸው ይመስል አትላንቲክን ማቋረጥ አስግቷቸዋል፡፡ ሁሉም “እስስት ፖለቲከኛ” መሆን አልቻሉም። የአብዛኛዎቹ የትግል ሁሉ መጀመሪያና መጨረሻ “የምትታገለውን ዋና ባላንጣ ትተህ ያንተው ቢጤውን በመቃረን ዕድሜህን አርዝም” የሚል ያልተጻፈ የፖለቲካ ፕሮግራም፣ የጸና እምነትና ግብ ያላቸው ይመስላሉ።

ግንቦት 97 ዓ.ም ለሐገራችን ፖለቲካ ተስፋን ይዞ የመጣ ትልቅ እድል ነበር የምርጫው እለት እኔም በአሁኑ ሠዓት አውስትራሊያ ከሚኖር ወዳጄ ጋር በመሆን በጠዋት ወጥተን በያዝኳት አንድ ካርድ ኢህአዴግን ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ ከስልጣን በማባረሩ ሒደቱ ተሳታፊ ለመሆን ምርጫ ጣቢያ ደርሰናል በድንገት ግን አንድ ተዐምር ተከሠተ ዶ/ር ብርሐኑ ነጋ የሠፈራችን ምርጫ ጣቢያ ለቅኝት ተገኘ አካባቢው በፉጨት ተናጋ እልልታ ጭፈራው ደራ፣ ሰው ሁሉ ዶ/ር ብርሐኑ እየሮጠ ላይ መጠምጠም ጀመረ እኔና ጓደኛዬ ሁኔታውን በአድናቆት መከታተል ያዝን ወዲያውም በአካባቢው ይገኙ የነበሩ ሠዎች ኮተቤ ደጃዝማች ወንድራድ ት/ቤት አካባቢ በሚገኝ አንድ ግሮሠሪ በመውሰድ ምግብ ሊጋብዙት እንደሚፈልጉ ነገሩት ያ ድንቅ ሠው ዶ/ር ብርሐኑ ግን አሻፈረኝ መሄድ አለብኝ ሲል ቢናገርም አንድ አዛውንት ጠጋ ብለው እንዲህ አሉት ”የኛን ግብዣ ንቀህ ካልሆነ በቀር እምቢ የምትልበት ምንም ምክንያት የለም አንተ ነፍስህን ለእኛ ስትል ለመክፈል የተዘጋጀህ ነህ እኛ ለምሳ ብንከፍልልህ ምን አለበት” ሲሉት ዶ/ር ብርሐኑ ላይ የትካዜ እና የፍቅር ፊት አነብ ነበር፡፡

ዶ/ር ብርሐኑ በሰው ተከቦ ምግቡን ከበላ በኋላ ህዝቡ ዶ/ር ብርሀኑ መኪናው ውስጥ እስኪገባ ድረስ ግማሹ በለቅሶ ግማሹ በደስታ ተሸክመውት ይጨፍሩ ነበር እኔም ህዘቡ ብርሐኑን ምን ያህል እንደሚወዱት ባየሁኝ ጊዜ ይህንን ድንቅ ኢትዮጵያዊ እግዚአብሔር እንዲጠብቀው እና የህዝቡን ልብ የሚያረካ ድርጊት እንዲፈፅም ሲል ከልብ ተመኘው ምንአልባት ያ የኮተቤ አካባቢ ህዝብ ፍቅር በብርሐኑ ህሊና ውስጥ እየመጣ ይሆናል ብርሐኑን እንደዚህ በየመድረኩ ህዝቡን ለማገልገል ቃል እንደገባ እንዲናገር ያስቻለው፡፡

Birtukan Midekesa graduated from Harvard university

Dear my good friend Birtukan Mideksa, First and foremost, I would like to tell you how very proud and honored I feel to see you smile again warmly and heartedly wiping off all the tears and agonies of the past. Like a bird freed from the cruel confines of a cage, you are flying and singing again.

Your graduation from Harvard Kennedy School of Government after so much hard work is another milestone not only for you but also those of us who admire and hold you in high esteem for all the courageous sacrifices you have made in defence of freedom and justice. The qualities of greatness is not measured through the things you have achieved without difficulties and challenges.

Great success often comes after trials, tribulations, pains and tears. You have seen and tasted them all in those dark wintery days and none of them were able to define and hold you back from the risky and treacherous journey you have chosen through the valleys of death, tyranny, terror, injustice, abuse, false accusations and incarcerations in those horrible rat infested cells.

Life is full of ironies. On May 28, 2014 we woke up to the sad news that one of the world’s most beloved daughters passed away at the age of 84. Dr. Maya Angelou was not just an American giant but also a global citizen and a “phenomenal woman”, as she once described herself in one of her popular poems. She was a legendary author, a celebrated poem, a passionate activist, a humanist, among other things. She was a woman that fought for justice, freedom and equality. She was indeed a “phenomenal woman” who has given so much in the span of her colorful and blessed lifetime.

Like so many mourners across the world, I did not have a proper way to express my sadness over the loss of such a giant except repeating her own words on my Facebook page: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Yes, we Ethiopians, the victims of injustice and tyranny, may also forget and forgive what they said or did to us but we will never forget how they made us feel. We don’t also forget how they inhumanely abused, mistreated and made our heroes and heroines feel in their own country and in places of refuge across the oceans and mountains.

Just a day after the phenomenal woman passed away, you emerged from the gates of Harvard University with smiles that you had proudly wore during that epic year of 2005. You changed the mood of so many Ethiopians from gloom to bloom. For so many Ethiopians, you are also a phenomenal woman not because you got a degree from an Ivy League college but because you proved to the enemies of freedom and dignity that your spirit will never be broken. Your silence was even a potent revenge that proved right when you quietly emerged more matured, enlightened and educated. When you thrive and bloom, the hateful TPLF dictators, torture czars and their servants will certainly feel doom and gloom.

Dear Birtukane, It is a timely tribute to Dr. Angelou that you proved her message. She had said: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” You survived the worst days of your life and did it with so much passion, compassion and style.

As you know, so many things have happened since you got out of Kaliti prison. After you walked out of the notorious jails, Eskinder, Andualem, Reeyot, Bekele Gerba, bloggers, Muslim rights leaders, activists, dissidents, among the countless and nameless others, have been dragged in, shackled and locked up. And yet the most significant change is probably the silence and absence of Meles Zenawi, one of the worst few who ever walked in Ethiopia. In a twist of history, he is buried under the very country he tried to divide, destroy and break up. The brutal dictator, who put you in cages, in no more here to witness the fact that your spirit is unbreakable. He will no longer feel terrorized and threatened with your vision, dreams and successes.

Instead of being broken and depressed as he so desperately wished, you proved him wrong by being indomitable and invincible to his wicked schemes. It was so gracious of you when you chose to express your condolences upon the timely demise of the man who once taunted, tormented and tortured you and so many beloved daughters and sons of Ethiopia. This is a powerful lesson to those who can learn from the fact that there is an awesome and perfect judge ruling from the heavens. The Almighty judge we trust and believe in wipes the tears of the weak that appeal to him and punishes those that vainly try to damage and destroy the precious and beautiful souls he created in his own image. His unfailing judgement is perfect and mysterious.

To be honest with you, I believe that the lessons you have gained through your struggle for justice and freedom that led you through the valleys of pains and suffering are more valuable than the lessons you learned in the textbooks of Harvard. Those hard lessons are unforgettable and life changing. Unfortunately, countless others are experiencing the excruciating pains and so many are killed in cold blood. We should all never relent until injustice and tyranny become history like the tyrants that are dropping dead in the middle of their illusion to crush every little voice and soul forever.

Throughout my entire life, I have never participated in a democratic election to choose those who must serve the people of Ethiopia like polite and loyal servants. Sooner or later, all of us, the true sons and daughters of Ethiopia that just aspire to be treated fairly like ordinary citizens in our country will be able to cast our vote. When the time comes, I promise that I will vote for public servants like you who have paid incalculable but unforgettable price so that others will live in peace, freedom and dignity.

My beloved friend, I am very lucky to have talked to you for so many hours and listened to you with keen interest. Your stories are compelling and your cause is holy. I have understood not only your words but your inner feelings and desire for freedom and dignity. I have no words sufficient enough to describe the depth of your love for your people and country.

Unlike a few others, I do not judge you from afar. But I can clearly share your vision for Ethiopia and its people. Yes, this great country will rise again. It has been proven throughout our long history. Ethiopia has risen on countless occasions from the rubbles of history even during the most atrocious and treacherous times. It has prevailed over colonial masters, slave traders, fascists, invaders and home-grown dictators.

In our last conversation, you and me have agreed on the inevitability of a historically proven fact. Ethiopia will rise again!We will rise like the sun that breaks out of the dark clouds warmly smiling and shining. We shall never, never doubt that we will rise. We will learn from the mistakes of the past and claim the future for generations to come. We will never be defeated unless we doubt the inevitability of our rise.

Dear Birtukan, Thank you for the phenomenal rise defeating the spirits of terror and fear that haunted you in the dark hours and the nightmares they deliberately created in your mind to destroy your intimidating confidence. You are a truly phenomenal woman that must continue to fight in the battles we have not yet finished. Thank you Birtu-Kahn! Your wings are no more clipped. Rise, rise, fly and soar as high as you can. I also wish wish to see the rise of the visionary young men and women you have helped inspire.

Before I conclude, I find no better words to encapsulate the feelings I expressed above to you than the poem of the late phenomenal woman, Dr. Maya Angelou:

Still I rise

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may tread me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
